Naturopathic Medicine By Women For Women’s Health

Bay Wellness Centre is downtown Vancouver’s premier Naturopathic office!

We’ve been open for over four years now and we wanted to take a minute to let you know exactly what we, the naturopathic doctors at Bay Wellness, can do for you and your family.

Naturopathic Medicine For Women’s Health

As naturopathic physicians, we focus on prevention, lifestyle and treating the root cause of conditions. Being in the heart of downtown Vancouver, we understand all of the stressors surrounding us, from outlandish living costs, to stressful jobs, to environmental pollutants. We see firsthand how these things can affect our patients’ lives, and overall health.

We pride ourselves on working very closely with our patients, helping to educate them and guide them back to optimal health through specialized testing, and developed curriculums in which we implement the four pillars of health.

When we’re working with patients, we do it as a team, so you always have two physicians working for you (we like to think of it as two brains for the price of one).

As mentioned above, we also make sure that we are including the four pillars of health in all of our programs. The four pillars of health are: nutrition, detoxification, hormones and lifestyle. We find that by implementing strategies to address each pillar, we are able to really treat the cause of the symptoms and conditions that our patients are presenting with.

We like to think of ourselves as naturopathic physicians for women’ health. As women, we have a great understanding of the female body, mental health and physical health, including changing hormones.

What is Naturopathic Medicine?

As you may recognize, we are different than conventional medical doctors. As naturopathic physicians, we attend a four-year degree program before applying to an accredited naturopathic medical school. Naturopathic and conventional medical schools are the same in the first two years of the program – we learn the basic sciences including, biology, chemistry, physiology, embryology and biochemistry. After the first two years of the program, students write a board exam covering all of that information.

It is in the second two years that the medical school programs differ. In naturopathic school, students enter clinic in their third year and also begin to learn all of the natural modalities that they are able to use to treat. These include botanical medicine, homeopathy, chiropractic adjustments, nutrition and Traditional Chinese medicine, in addition to pharmacology and pathology.

After completing four years of school, there is another board exam before you become a licensed physician. Once you are a licensed naturopathic physician, you can then attend more lectures, seminars and weekend-intensive courses to really focus your training. At Bay Wellness Centre, we have concentrated our learning on women’ health, functional endocrinology, medical aesthetic injections and sports medicine injections for pain management. We are also licensed to prescribe medications when necessary, and perform nutrient IV therapy.

As naturopathic physicians, our goal is always to treat the root cause of the problem and the whole person (not just the symptoms); we also spend a lot of time on education with our patients because we believe that YOU should take part in your health and healing.

Women’s Health: Feel Good and Look Good

We have a fifth pillar of health that we like to cover when our patients are feeling really good, which is aesthetics. We do two natural medical aesthetic procedures in our office, Micropen treatments and PRP facial injections. Both treatments work by stimulating the natural production of collagen in the skin, leading to healthier, younger looking skin. We also have wrinkle relaxer injections that our patients love!

It is our passion and mission to determine what is causing symptoms for women and why; whether it be deficiencies in micronutrients, imbalanced hormones or toxic overload. We pride ourselves on treating the whole woman and addressing the cause of the symptom while removing barriers to heal. We’ve developed a systematic approach to addressing women’s health and find great success in our step-wise programs, all while including the four pillars of health.
