lab testing at naturopathic doctor

Lab Testing at Bay Wellness

Lab testing is a very valuable tool for physicians to get objective insight into what is going on inside the body. At Bay Wellness Centre, the naturopathic physicians use the results from lab testing, along with the symptoms discussed during one-on-one visits to create, update and fine tune their treatment plans.

Lab Testing with Naturopathic Physicians

As naturopathic physicians, we are trained to look for “optimal” values, rather than following the labs “normal” ranges. When we receive lab results, we go through each value and add that information to the symptom picture that our patient is presenting with to be as detailed as possible. We find that this is the best way for us to develop the most personalized treatment plans possible.

As naturopathic physicians, we are practicing medicine outside of the regular Health Canada Healthcare system which means we are, in a way, privatized healthcare. This means that the fees set by each naturopathic physician and each naturopathic practice, are there own.

As such, lab testing fees are set by the labs themselves. At Bay Wellness Centre, we do not mark up our lab testing fees for profit, we simply use the lab testing cost that is recommended to us. Our goal is to get as much information as we can, to give you the best and most personalized care possible. We do not aim to make profit off of that information. We are also happy to use, and interpret lab tests that you have already done within 6 months of your visit from other physicians.

Please find our lab testing costs below. We have chosen these labs based on precision of the information provided and cost to our patient. We also try to use labs in Canada to support our local economy.

Please note that to remain in good standing with Health Canada and the CNPBC, you must establish as a patient at Bay Wellness to have testing done and interpreted. An initial consultation is required prior to ordering labs.
