In particular, we will discuss women’s health concerns between the ages of 19 and 60 including your questions about periods, symptoms of Perimenopause and menopause. We believe you can and should thrive through those years.

Hi. I’m Dr. Annie Savage one of the Naturopathic Doctors at the Bay Wellness Centre located in Downtown Vancouver. In our office, we see mostly women’s health. We deal with hormone balancing, weight loss and stress management.

You may also find it surprising how what we share in upcoming blogs on the four pillars of health is also connected to your skin health and to your pain management.

When patients come into our office we look at the whole person and so address the four pillars of health with everybody. We’ve found that this is how we achieve true healing.

What are the 4 pillars to women’s health?  

  1. Nutrition
  2. Detoxification
  3. Hormones
  4. Lifestyle

Lifestyle is the biggest pillar because this category has the most and perhaps the most familiar. It includes your sleep habits, your stress management habits and your exercise habits.

Why do we look at each of the four pillars of health when we treat everyone in our office?  

Because we have found that when one of those pillars is not addressed properly, we don’t get the results we want to see. Results we determine together with our patients.

For example, we have many people coming into our office when they are trying to lose weight. Often, they have figured out an exercise plan where they might have lost a little bit of weight. In addition, they may have settled on a nutrition plan and budged that needle on the scale a little bit, but not managed to get the results they are really looking for.

In most cases, we find that their hormones are the barrier and we treat that.  So, this is just one example of why we need to address all four pillars of health when as we treat each of our patients.
